Maybelline New York is the world’s leading cosmetics brand, available in over 100 countries. By combining technologically advanced formulations with on-trend expertise and New York City edge, Maybelline New York’s mission is to offer innovative, accessible, and effortless cosmetics for every woman.

1915 – Mabel Williams, a young woman from Chicago, was looking for a way to enhance her eyes. With an eye for ingenuity, she stirred together coal dust and Vaseline and applied the mixture to her lashes and brows. Inspired by the potential of her homespun invention, her brother Thomas Lyle Williams created Maybell Laboratories and began selling mascara through the mail.

The Solution

Colorwheel was a Facebook App specifically designed for our client Mather Advertures. As a Design Lead, I was working with my team on developing a sofisticated game for teenage girls to promote a new product on the market, Colorama – a nail polish.

The main motivation in the game was to win the Colorama palette for free. The price consisted of 32 Colorama nail polishes. Every colorwheel owner could invite their friends who would help them to win and pick their favourite colour, if it was still available. First team who had all the 32 colours taken would win. The whole application was also connected to the administration so L’oreal could repeat the rounds as necessary.

The Final Good

As a part of digital strategy, Colorama app for now helped to make Maybelline’s nail polishes the number one for the first time in Czech Republic. Also, more than 1 000 Colorama products were sold every day in Rosmann drugstores. First week even 15 000 products.
